Ugh. This election has been particularly upsetting. I thought we had a chance, but I grossly overestimated the average voter’s ability to be a decent human being. I knew no matter what the results were tonight that I would be disgusted by them. Still, the results are here, and I can’t help but be a little more repulsed than I thought I’d be. America has dug itself a hole to hell, and I’m having a hard time holding onto the belief that it wants to pull itself out.

Have you hugged a trans person today?

My trans friends are all different amounts of scared, angry, and suicidal. I’m relieved that my mental health has improved to the point where I can offer what little support I have to give. If you have a trans person in your life, make sure you reach out to them today. We need to know we have allies now more than ever.

The thing I’m most worried about right now is the Democratic Party’s response. They were already wavering on trans issues, and I’m truly scared my existence will soon be seen as a negative by both parties. I’ve worked so hard to get to the point where I’m truly happy with the person I am, and it’s upsetting to see both parties fail to stand up for what’s right.

Don’t let anyone let you believe the progress we’ve made is worth abandoning for a lesser evil. Mainstream Democrats already lean too far to the right. Don’t let them all fall into that hole to hell.
